Vision, Mission and Values

OUR VISION

Spreading life everywhere.

OUR MISSION

Now: Establishing colonies here on Earth as training grounds for colonies out there.

Soon: Establishing the first colonies off-Earth.

Always: Stretching the frontiers of human civilization.

OUR VALUES

Defying limits – We are pushing the limits of human life outwards. We accept that living on the edge is dangerous, but we believe this is a cause worth living and sometimes dying for. Humans learn through failure, and so we celebrate failures as well as successes and keep moving onwards and outwards.

Creativity – Trying new ideas, new ways of doing and new ways of looking at the world. Embracing change and wonder.

Diversity – No single solution, no single culture, no single way of looking at the world. We encourage multiple solutions and cultures, knowing that life progresses through trying not one solution but many and always branching outwards.

About

There are many people and organizations working on ways to make transportation from Earth to Space economical enough that we can establish colonies. Setting up a colony on the Moon or Mars is going to create challenges we have not faced. We believe that by establishing colonies in remote and challenging places on Earth will give us the necessary experience, strengths and skills so that we are ready when that time comes. It will also help us build momentum towards making that jump.

What Can We Learn from Colonies on Earth that is Relevant to Space Colonies

Perhaps a better question would be what we can’t learn. The biggest thing we can’t learn is how to cope with different gravitational fields. One disadvantage of living at the bottom of a deep gravity well is that you are stuck with at least that much gravity for anything more than a short free fall. …

Goals

It is always good to have goals. It provides a direction to move towards and a yardstick to measure your progress. No one can see the future, so, of course, goals have to be adjusted and updated from time to time. Here is our first pass at our goals: STAGE ONE GOALS Timeframe: Completion by …
